On Tuesday, November 11, we are in conversation with four residents of the Gati Summer Dance Residency 2014. They are in Bombay to perform the works they created over a period of three months, earlier this year, as part of a carefully-mentored process at Gati Dance Forum in New Delhi. As the idea of residencies for dance and performance gains traction in India, our discussion highlights the choreographers’ experience of being part of a residency and how it has helped them shape their choreographic work creatively, financially and logistically.
Perspectives on Dancemaking is an ongoing Dance Dialogues series that explores, eponymously, how dancers make work. If you are a dancer or dance lover who is interested in knowing how dancers create, conceptualise and bring a work on stage, thus discovering new possibilities and opportunities for yourself and others, this discussion is for you.
Their performance, 5OLO, is on November 12 at Sitara Studio.
The Gati Summer Dance Residency is an annual 10-week residency that provides emerging dance choreographers with an opportunity to create and stage their own performance.
We’re very excited about being hosted by the Collage Art Mehfil, a lovely new arts space in the heart of Bandra! Entry Free.
