On Sunday, July 7, 2013, Dance Dialogues presents a work-in-progress sharing of wonkot, a new dance theatre production inspired by Rumi’s interpretation of the parable about an elephant in a dark room. wonkot is choreographed by Avantika Bahl. In this piece, the four dancers – Amrita Bagchi, Antara Majumdar, Binal Shah and Soumya Lakshmynarayanan, use movement, texture, imagery and spoken word to explore parallel narratives within Rumi’s story.
The dancers and choreographer will share their process and perform excerpts from the production. The musicians who have composed wonkot’s sound score will also be present. We end with a Q & A session.
wonkot is still in rehearsal and the team would love to know exactly how/what you feel about their work. The idea of the sharing is to create a space for formative criticism and feedback.
